History & Biography The Porto Alegre, Brazil-based death metal band existed as Interior Soul between 1997 and 1999 before becoming Nephasth. The group existed between 1999 and 2005. The debut demo was 1999’s The Merciless Face Of Evil. The group appeared on the split record Brazilian Assault the year after, which was issued by Relapse and featured the demo material. Mighty Music signed the band and issued the debut, Immortal Unholy Triumph. Upon splitting up the band attributed it to “incompatibilities of ideas and interests between the band members.”
Following the group’s dissolution the rhythm section ended up together in one band, while the guitarists ended up in another.
Reviews NEPHASTH - CONCEIVED BY INHUMAN BLOOD - MIGHTY
When recently my subjects were asked to nominate one album that would best represent the sound of punishment and agony that would be inflicted on any traitors at Metallian Towers the overwhelming vote went to Nephasth's latest album. Such is the vicious and violent sound emanating from this album. The Brazilian quartet is responsible for some of the purest death metal anywhere. Even Krisiun has to bow to these maniacs. The band's second full-length takes no prisoners as it maims and slays with extremely powerful riffing, ultra-gutteral vocals, gravity-defying blast beats and a production that is probably worth a lot more than what the band actually paid for it. Songs like Hate Earth and Crucify Again should be required listening for speed monomaniacs. This album is a feat of metallic imagination! - Ali "The Metallian"
