History & Biography American-Brazilian brothers Moyses and Howard Francis changed the name of their white metal band from Incubus to Opprobrium in 1999 in order to avoid confusion with the mallcore band, which had borrowed their monicker and became more famous than they ever were. Incubus’ Beyond The Unknown and Serpent Temptation were partly rerecorded and reissued under the new monicker in 2008.
Opprobrium was back and on Metal Mind Productions in 2008. The label was releasing the band’s Nuclear Blast catalogue again. Opprobrium’s Supernatural Death was being reissued by Brutal Records in the summer of 2018. Opprobrium signed a worldwide deal with the Germany-based label High Roller Records and would release a new album, entitled The Fallen Entities, which was scheduled for a worldwide release on February 22nd 2019.
Opprobrium is Latin for ‘disgraceful’ and is from The Bible. The brothers were from Rio De Janeiro, but had relocated to the USA as children in 1981.
