History & Biography
Founded by Sebastian Grütling and Sebastian Levermann as Tanzende Aingewaide in 1996 and reporting that the monicker translates to ‘the order of Ogan,’ the folk and power metal group issued a demo called Into Oblivion in 1997. ‘Ogan’ was ‘fear’ in Celtic. Anthem To The Darkside was the next demo and contained a track called Preview Of Soli Deo Gloria. The Soli Deo Gloria demo was issued in 1999.

The band went quiet, but returned with a demo called Testimonium A.D. in 2004. Versions of songs were used on the Orden Ogan/Bäd Influence split next. It took four years before the band returned with a record in hand. It was called Vale. It was supported through a video clip for the song The Lord Of The Flies. The line-up lasted into the next record, which was released by AFM Records. In the meantime, Seeb toured with Suidakra in 2009. The song We Are Pirates featured Running Wild guitarist Majk Moti and was meant as a tribute to that band. Hard Rocker magazine of Poland enclosed a band sampler called Nobody Leaves. The band also appeared at Rock Hard Festival and Wacken Open Air in 2010. The band toured as support to Tiamat in 2010. A couple of concerts with Van Canto were on tap too. The band opened for Grave Digger. Seeb would later contribute vocals to Gravedigger as well. The group recorded To The End between 2011 and 2012 and released it in the latter year. Bassist Lars was gone and Dirk had arrived on drums. The group was invited to play at ProgPower USA XV in 2014. The band also toured with Rhapsody and Freedom Call and subsequently with Hammerfall and Serious Black. Wolfsnächte 2015 Tour EP was a free compilation of the band’s material with Powerwolf, Xandria (Whose Steven Wussow would later join the band) and Civil War handed to concert attendees. This led to the next album, which was called Ravenhead. This album kicked off with the Orden Ogan instrumental. AFM Records and the band invested in The Book Of Ogan DVD set, which included a historical narrative, video clips and live recordings.

Gunmen was next and released in the summer of 2017. The band was at 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise 2017. Gunmen Live was recorded in Germany. The group appeared at Hellfest in 2018. Seeb left the guitar position and Patrick Sperling joined in 2020. Final Days had Steven Wussow on bass with Niels Löffler switching to guitar in order to replace the departed Tobi. Niels was also touring with Leaves' Eyes. Final Days hit no. 3 on the German album chart in 2021. 2022’s Final Days: Orden Ogan And Friends was a cover version record featuring the band’s material. Guests included Peavey Wagner, Dennis Diehl, Andy B. Franck and Gravedigger’s Chris Boltendahl. Former members Lars Schneider and Tobias Kersting would join Chris Boltendahl’s Steelhammer. Wussow was in Hellryder with Chris Boltendahl. The band played at Masters Of Rock festival in Italy in 2023 and announced a run of German concerts for early 2024. The band was booked for Epic Fest of Denmark for early 2024. Also booked were Beast In Black, Iron Fire and GloryHammer.

Orden Ogan signed with Reigning Phoenix Music (deicide, Helloween, etc.) in 2024. The next album was called The Order Of Fear and was out in the summer. My Worst Enemy was the advance single and continued the story of Alister Vale.

The band has been prolific and been around 30 years, but owing to being on AFM had little profile outside Western Europe. Seeb founded his own Greenman Studio in 2014 and works on the recordings there. He has also recorded, mixed or mastered music for other acts like Brainstorm and Harasai. The group’s mascot is Alister Vale. He is immortal and figures in the band’s lyrics and theme. The band organised the WinterNachtsTraum Festival for several years in the past.
