History & Biography
Resurrection became Orphaned Land in 1992. The band’s utility to metal fans is dubious. Hailing from Israel it uses folk melodies throughout. The band’s confusion is apparent when it calls itself Jewish Muslim Metal. 1993 brought the The Beloved's Cry demo. The band signed with Holy Records, which re-issued the group’s Sahara demo. The band played in Turkey in 2001. Myrath supported Orphaned Land. Profound Lore issued the Ararat EP of 2005. The group played at several festivals including Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze Open Air in 2010. The group also opened for rock bands Amorphis and Metallica. Orphaned Land and Palestine’s Khalas toured together in 2013 Sassi left in 2014. A Heaven You May Create commemorated the band's 30th anniversary, featured an orchestra and came as a CD/DVD.
