History & Biography
The Melbourne-based act existed simply as Orpheus between 2007 and 2013. The act featured two brothers, but was founded as the side-project of Chris Themelco and Joao Gancalves. The brothers were in the thrashy Ends In Torment. Chris ran the Monolith Studio in town where he engineered many acts. Orpheus was the name for a mythical Greek poet and musician. The monicker was changed in 2013 after the release of an album called Bleed The Way in early 2011 and Resillusion in 2013. The group reported it wanted to avoid a copyright conflict. The changeover coincided with the death of bassist Adam Adams. The band brandished a keyboard (in Greek mythology Orpheus played the harp), which added to the commercialism. Daniel Ralph (ex-Naberus) was at first a replacement tour bassist before becoming permanent, albeit for a year.

The group toured with Dark Tranquillity nationally and opened for Children Of Bodom in Melbourne. The band toured East Asia and issued a DVD called Archways Across Asia independently. Partum Vita Mortem was essentially a demo in the summer of 2015, but was also pressed by Italy's Kolony Records. A gig in Hong kong was cancelled with visa problems given as the reason in 2017. The next album arrived four years later. It was on an Australian imprint. In tune with all the other releases in the scene, it featured multiple guest musicians like Niilo Sevänen of Insomnium. The Finn had been a guest with Omnium Gatherum. Strangely, Orpheus Omega had opened for Omnium Gatherum and Scar Symmetry (alongside Blood Stain Child) in Japan in 2019 as Orpehus. The band was also part of Australia's Questfest.

2021's Career Suicide was one of those cover version releases. This one was a split between the act and fellow Melbourne act Triple Kill. Portraits was a 2023 demo. Luke Ashley was the second guitarist. Leon Monaco was on bass now. The band moved to WormHoleDeath and released a new record in 2024. Emberglow introduced keyboard player Campbell Hill. The act and Carmeria announced a mini-tour of Australia. Trigger's Darcy Mulcahy (also in The Incantus) took over the drums in 2025. He was billed as being a live drummer. Trigger had hired Chris Themelco and Monolith Studio in the past. Trigger had also opened for the band previously. Be'lakor announced three dates in Australia with Persefone and Orpheus Omega for late 2025.
