History & Biography
This Germany-based black metal band had several fits and starts. It was formed by Machosias. He was on vocals and guitars to start, but switched to drums upon reformation. The band was founded in 1993 and split up in 1996 only to come back a year later and disband in 2002. The band returned ten years later and lasted for two years. The group was first heard through the 1994 demo Eternal Darkness. Mitgart was a 1996 demo. A self-titled demo arrived in 1997, as did In the Shadowlands and Night Of Chaos. Last Episode signed the band and issued an album in 1998. Live In Luxembourg '98/Live In Tokyo '99 was a split release of Pagan Winter and Japan-based Insanity Of Slaughter and issued by Japan’s Cosmic Garden Productions in 2001. Hammes also took up the bass in 2012. Deathgasm issued the band’s The Cult Of Flesh EP in 2002. It featured a Darkthrone cover version for some reason. The band’s Live In Heidenburg Juni 1996 was included with a local Saarland sampler posthumously in 2017.

Old Pagan’s self-titled EP from 1999 featured a cover version of Pagan Winter’s Eternal Armageddon. Old Pagan and Pagan Winter shared members. The Pagan Winter was the title for a Darkthrone song from the A Blaze in The Northern Sky album of 1992.
