History & Biography This early black/thrash metal band was active between autumn of 1982 and 1987 and managed one album in that time period. The band was founded by Uli (who drew the logo) and Armin in the Southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg – featuring drummer Ingmar as of 1983 - not known for a big metal scene and issued the Sons Of Evil demo with new drummer Alex Gilliar (who had joined in January) in 1984. Demo II - Bestial Death came in 1985. Destruction had issued a demo called Bestial Invasion Of Hell in 1984. Live Terror (recorded at the band’s first show in nearby Pforzheim) and Awakening Of The Dead followed. A couple of known rehearsal tapes were circulated in the underground, including Possessed By Hell, before the proper demo, Into The Abyss, in 1987. A tape called Live 87 was circulated on the tape trading scene next. Poison was featured on the Teutonic Invasion Part One compilation of Roadrunner Records in 1987. Roadrunner had the option of signing the band, but did not. Simultaneously, the American glam band had emerged in the USA. The band split up, but Into The Abyss was officially issued as an album in 1993. This was re-issued as Into the Abyss – Resurrected by F.O.A.D. records some 16 years later.
Poison was the name of a Venom song from the Welcome To Hell album of 1981. The band called itself The New Dimension Of Ultra Hardcore Black Metal.
