History & Biography
These US-based heavy and speed metallers came together in California in July of 1984 and had a demo, simply called Predator, in 1985. The local Metal Blade and Enigma labels signed the band, on the back of a demo by the band Aggressor, and issued the Easy Prey album in January of 1986. Prentice claimed to have played bass and guitar, as well as sang and been the man on the cover on the record. He would also claim he had stand-ins for a band photo that was needed to get a record contract. Aghassi played the drums, but was replaced by Johnson who was credited on the record. Roadrunner licensed the record for Europe. The cover of the record features a man looking to kidnap a voluptuous woman (the sister of Prentice’s girlfriend) while the back cover depicts the man having succeeded. Eddie Close was later replaced by Fred Muferd.

Predator opened for Flotsam And Jetsam on a short tour and otherwise had shows with Slayer, Armored Saint and Dark Angel. Later drummer Andy James joined Savatage.

Jeff Prentice, who had been in the AOR band Outland, reappeared in 2020 with Predator and a song called The Thought Police. Prentice was collaborating with bassist Frank Forray of Ninth Circle, a band he had produced previously.
