History & Biography

Hirax’s debut album was called Raging Violence and issued by Metal Blade Records in 1985. The group split up, returned, changed members ad nauseam, etc over the years. Several former Hirax members got together in 2013 and recorded old Hirax material, riffs meant for Hirax and three newer songs before splitting up in 2015. The singer for the ensemble was Rob Perkins who was a colleague from Cold Blood and Weapons Of Mass Destruction/Weapon 13. The material, while still heavy/thrash metal obviously, was deliberately played more slowly than the old Hirax style. Monardo had quit Weapon 13 in 2008 claiming that had he stayed he would be selling out. He remarked that Bob Savage was writing longer and longer songs in that act.

Golden Core released the Raging Violence recording as a self-titled EP in 2024.
