History & Biography
The Maryland, USA-based crossover and hardcore band was marketed as being recommended to Slayer and Dying Fetus fans, but one wouldn’t know it from listening to the music. Active since 1999, the act released a three-song demo in 2002, a record produced by Dying Fetus’ John Gallagher, had This Dark Reign license it from its own Skinlifter imprint, lost guitarist Don Herbert, replaced him with Jason Baillif and disappeared. With the new license, the EP became a full-length.

Two members ended up in the thrashy Oceans Of Flesh.

RECOURSE - WEAKENING THE STRUCTURE - SKINLIFTER
Band descriptions and biographies have a life of their own. They are obviously written with a bias and slant and do not necessarily give the whole story. In Recourse's case, the band is called "death-core" and "death metal/hardcore," but recommended for fans of Dying Fetus, Nile and Incantation. Now other than a Cannibal Corpse riff opening the album and a couple of hints of metal on songs like Eyes Burned Shut and Fallout Weakening The Structure is uninterrupted hardcore. It might be a case of marketing to metal fans, but why the band would be compared to bands with which it shares little in musical direction is a mystery.
This hardcore band could be compared to DRI musically. Moreover, the music is boring and plain enough to be uninteresting to all. The band's amateurish and no-frills style has some prominent bass lines, but is otherwise like a dull mix of Hatebreed and DRI. The album was produced Dying Fetus' John Gallagher and was issued by Skinlifter Records around 2003 and is now being shipped by This Dark Reign/Devil Doll Records. - Ali "The Metallian"
