History & Biography
One of two cows out on pasture in Sweden… actually a grindcore band since 1990, this Regurgitate issued a Demo '91 with almost a dozen tracks lasting two minutes. The influence was Napalm Death/Carcass and the founders were singers Rikard Jansson and Crematory drummer Mats. As such, the band’s first show was completed with a drum machine trying to keep up with the duo. Their campaign for musical destruction had just begun. Germany’s Poserslaughter slayed a few Metallica fans and issued a split single for the band and Germany-based Vaginalmassaker. The bands competed for the shortest tracks (Regurgitate did not stand a chance with its thirty-second songs). Peter was in and out on drums given his other projects and Mats took over the stool. Urban (also in Crematory with Mats) entered the fray to play guitar.

A couple of other split releases were thrown together and the trio issued its debut full-length, entitled Effortless Regurgitation Of Bright Red Blood, through the obviously Dutch Lowland Records. Guitarist/drummer Mats Nordrup (General Surgery and Cematory) had left, but the act was a quartet now. Crematory had split up and Johan "Joppe" Hanson had joined on bass. Peter returned on drums. This disc would be picked up by Relapse Records five years later. More split releases (a.o. with Dead) and demos like Concrete Human Torture ensued. The band, in the meanwhile, split up and the members focused on their efforts elsewhere. Joppe and the band had lost contact during this period and Urban Skytt took over the bass too.

The re-release of the first album, which included bonus material, and continued interest roused the band back together. Now on Relapse Records, the band issued an erotically charged – as in a morbidly obese SUV driver at the McDonalds’ drive-thru – record called Carnivorous Erection. Urban handled the bass, as well as the guitar, and Jocke was on the stool beginning 1999. A show in Sweden featured Terje, the singer of Arsedestroyer, on bass. Comeback Of Goregods: Tribute To Regurgitate was a 2001 tribute disc through Bizarre Leprous Productions. Gore Beyond Necropsy, Haemorrhage, and others were on the CD. Other shows were at Fuck The Commerce IV in Germany, Obscene Extreme Festival in the Czech Republic in 2001 and a mini-tour with Entrails Massacre and $krupel. More mini-albums like Hatefilled Vengeance (Relapse) with the American Glenn Sykes on bass and an appearance on the 3 Way Grindcore Knockout - Round 1 split release with Suppository and Entrails Massacre followed. Two shows were completed in Germany. More low-ned grinding was heard on Deviant. Drummer Jocke had injured himself, however, and the band had to take a breather. There were more split releases after Sickening Bliss, but the band heaved its last hurl in 2010, but not before playing at the Maryland Deathfest in 2005 and 2007, Obscene Extreme's 10th Anniversary Festival in 2008 and one with General Surgery also in 2008. Sykes had already departed back to the USA. A split release with Bile fell through after delays on the Dutch band’s part, but not really because the split came out with Skullhog, the alterego of that act. A posthumous split 7" with Atrocity (USA) called Imperial Anthems Vol.3 was out through Cyclone Empire in June 2010. The act had cancelled a show in Austria due to medical reasons in early that year. MTV honoured the band by calling its Carnivorous Erection cover art one of the most horrific ever.

Urban Skytt is an artist who helped with his own bands’ art, Necrophobic’s covers and even the Dark Funeral logo.
