History & Biography
Not to be confused with the France-based black metal band that was founded last century, this act was started in Detroit, Michigan, USA in 2010. Guitarist Holland was looking for a new gig after Tokyo Blade and found singer Hal on MySpace. They brought in bassist Frank Kruckel who also came from Tokyo Blade. The monicker was inspired by the song Revolution Rising and its lyrics, “Bow down in reverence, bow down in fear.” Steve Wacholz, who is on drums, is the right-wing former Savatage member. Wacholz suggested guitarist Rossi.

The act issued an EP called Gatekeeper on Razar Ice Records of guitarist Holland. A full-length emerged in 2012 and another in 2015. The band toured Europe with Vision Divine in 2013 reporting that it had deliberately delayed doing so from 2012. The band announced it would record a live video on this trek. Bassist Michael Massie joined in 2013 and lasted three years. Todd Michael Hall also left in 2016. His replacement was session singer-for-hire Scott Oliva. Reverence signed with Rock’N’Growl promotion for Europe in late 2016. Reverence’s new, and as yet untitled album, was to be released sometime in 2017. An EP called Foreverence emerged in 2017. US and European shows were to be announced. Guitarist Pete Rossi died in that year however.

The band signed a multi-album deal for Europe with ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records in 2018. Reverence was working on a live CD and writing a new full-length studio album for release later that year. The live album was entitled Vengeance Is…Live. The album featured fifteen tracks and was released through ROAR! Rock Of Angels Records in December. Several years passed and a new album was nowhere to be found.
