History & Biography Revolver was the hard rock band of former Slik Toxik singer Nick Walsh. Along for the spin was Walsh’s partner Laurie-Anne Green on bass. There was also a groove act with the same name at the same time. Other members included guitarist Sean Kelly and drummers Sheldon Thomas and Descher Sparboom. The band issued independent music and a live DVD before changing monickers to Famous Underground in 2011. The band had a plan to tour Europe in Support of Turbulence, but blamed management when the plan was squashed. The said record was licensed for Europe by Drakkar. The Canadian management was dropped in favour of Americans. Clearly, that was not the answer either. Famous Underground issued a compilation CD called The Revolver Years. Walsh was next touring as a tribute to Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and others.
Reviews REVOLVER - THE NEW BLOOD ROCK SHOW (CD+DVD) - BABYLON MUSIC GROUP
Revolver features Nick Walsh, formerly of Slik Toxik. The New Blood Rock Show features ten songs recorded at Toronto’s The Reverb and two studio songs in Love Stands Still and Broken Wings. The first song in the live portion, Atomic Arcade, doesn’t offer much more than the formulaic hard rock sound of the singer’s former band, the one which borrowed a good deal from Guns 'N Roses and others of the late '80s and early '90s era. Not much of anything unexpected in Wasteland that follows, hard rock guitars ala Slash, and a low key chorus. Helluvatime is Slik Toxic revisited again and unsurprisingly fits in with the other songs. Listening through songs like Turbulence, Wheel Of Misfortune, Bullet Train, Deadweight and Nosebleed are like a journey through the aforementioned period in hard rock and exposes the unoriginality in some of the material, then and now. The DVD includes the video version of the recording and another Slik Toxik cover in Sweet Asylum. Additionally there is a documentary called Evolution where Nick talks about leaving the scene but feeling the fire to return to the stage and the long process of forming Revolver. An interesting fact about a band member, guitarist Tyson Emanuel, and his adventures in Europe is that it included playing in a grindcore band but the rest is pretty much all the cliché that one gets in the documentary and it is difficult to have expected anything more. - Anna Tergel
