History & Biography Rise To Fall may not make much sense, but then again the band’s music is described as groove metal. So there! Formed in 2006, the band released a self-titled demo with three songs immediately and then released a full-length demo called Restore The Balance in 2010. This release was the first of a trilogy by the band. This featured the earlier demo’s tracks as well. Naturally, multiple people came out of the woodworks to rerelease the demo later. In the meantime, the group had opened for Lord Belial in Spain in 2008. The group toured Japan in 2011.
The band participated in the Princess Ghibli II anime covers compilation before releasing Defying The Gods in 2012. The band’s debut album was through Coroner Records, which would also rerelease the aforementioned demo. In fact, the label had signed the band as early as 2009, but simply rereleased a demo first.
The group announced a tour of Ukraine and Russia in 2013. The band appeared at Resurrection Fest 2013, which it would revisit in 2018. There was more cartoon stuff before End Vs Beginning was released. The line-up had remained intact and singer Alain was photographed for the cover. The group was crowdfunding next. The band was independent again next and released a full-length called Into Zero in 2018. You know the routine. A couple of boys out there soon repressed it. There was a video clip for the song The Descendant from Into Zero, which was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studio. The band had had a video for the song Acid Drops before the full-length’s release.
Asis Rodriguez departed. Javier Martin switched to bass and Dann Hoyos joined the group on guitar. The Fifth Dimension was available in the summer of 2023. As usual, Björn "Speed" Strid of Soilwork was a guest vocalist. The band and Soilwork had toured Japan in 2019. The group was booked for Rock Imperium Festival 2023 and Z! Live Rock Fest 2023. The band had a mini-tour of Finland followed by several “festival” appearances. The group uploaded the single Fire Haze in March 2024. It was originally the bonus track on the Japanese edition of The Fifth Dimension. Rise To Fall, Vhäldemar and Bloodhunter were conducting a mini-tour of Japan in October 2024.
Reviews RISE TO FALL - RESTORE THE BALANCE - CORONER
When one thinks about it, the band’s monicker really expresses the same idea and concept as its album title. Whether that is unintended or not the music is the more important factor where there are parallels as well. The band hails from Spain, but the music and vocals are a mixture of the newer/modern Gothenburg sound and Pantera. The Gothenburg sound is present on nearly every songs where the quintet do early Soilwork/Dark Tranquillity in full effect. The thick harmonies, the syncopated riffing and the melodic speeds are all here. Rise To Fall also takes advantage of some very tight rolling drumming. Kudos to Xabier Del Val for that. Unfortunately, however, the band falls with its use of synthesizers and boy band chants and vocals. How completely and utterly lame! Speaking of vocals, Dalay Tarda can do a heavy voice with gusto, but listen to songs like Inner Scream or ...Kills The Reason and what do you hear other than Phil and Pantera channelled for one’s listening 'pleasure'? It is that mixture that describes the band’s style. Unfortunately for the band, this writer neither likes Pantera’s hoodlum shtick nor the false metal of bands with keyboards. - Ali “The Metallian”
