History & Biography
Riverdogs has been an off and on project playing bluesy hard rock since 1989. The act had Rob Lamothe (singer, guitarist and keyboardist), Vivian Campbell (guitarist), Nick Brophy (guitarist, bassist and keyboardist) and drummer Mike Baird as members in 1989. Keyboardist James Michael and guitarist Spencer Sercombe (Shark Island) were briefly in the band. lamothe was from Mac Meda, a late 1970s/early 1980s band featuring future Ratt man Robbin Crosby. He also sang for Sarge, which featured a former Ratt member and future Rough Cutt members. The songs I'm Insane and Scene Of The Crime from ratt's out Of The Cellar debut full-length were co-written by Crosby and future Riverdogs singer Rob Lamothe while the two were in Mac Meda. The Riverdogs released a self-titled album as a trio in 1990. Campbell was to solely produce demos initially. Baird left and in stepped Marc Danzeisen. The band promoted the record through a press and radio tour including acoustic sessions. These were recorded and released as a promotional CD called On Air. Marc and Vivian would depart the fold in 1992, but return in 2003. In the meantime, bassist Cary Beare and drummer Ronnie Ciago were part of the line-up. Campbell left after the band was dropped by Epic Records. He had earlier departed Whitesnake ostensibly because he was a hired hand and could not contribute music. Riverdogs were producing a new record with a producer called Kevin Gilbert, but Epic was unimpressed. The band had played less than ten gigs. Vivian Campbell went to a band with former Foreigner singer Lou Gramm called Shadow King. Brophy switched back to guitar to fill the vacant position. The new line-up released a record called Bone before biting the dust. The album was supported through several European concerts.

Lamothe released solo music and moved to Canada. One of his albums features self-cover versions and remixes of Riverdogs’ music. Brophy became a session musician and sound engineer. Marc Danzeisen would record a solo album in Vivian Campbell’s studio.

Rob Lamothe performed Riverdogs’ music at Melodic Rock Fest 2 in 2010. He was also a songwriting coach and freelancer as well as working on music videos. World Gone Mad’s material stemmed from the 2003 reformation demos. Rock Candy Records reissued the debut record in 2015, which the band had independently reissued, with On Air as a bonus, upon reformation. The band would also independently sell a live DVD. The group was writing and recording in 2016 and released a record in 2017. This album was instigated by Frontiers Music. A video was shot by a director who had worked on Last In Line’s videos. The band had its first concert since 2004 at the first annual Frontier Records Holiday Bash in December 2017. The album sold well.
