History & Biography
Rose Rose or ローズローズ (a.k.a. RozuRozu) is a Tokyo, Japan-based crossover band that was founded as early as 1983. The band believes itself to be Japan’s first hardcore group.

Singer and bassist Hiro has been the mainstay, but given its tenure the band has suffered few line-up changes. Hiro picked up the bass from Arisa in 1985 after the act issued a self-titled flexi single. The debut record arrived in 1986. Emotional Disturbance betrayed an obvious D.R.I. influence. The band was Mr. Hiro, guitarist Sada and Drummer Ichiro. Mosh Of Ass followed. A who’s who of Japan’s early scene appeared on the Skull Thrash Zone Volume I compilation. Bands included Doom, Shellshock, X Japan, Jurassic Jade, Ground Zero and Rose Rose. There were the following non-album singles next: Born To Be A Skate Boy and Skatehead '88. The band was able to tour Europe in 1988. There were gigs with label-mates Kings Of Oblivion. Kalv Piper, the bass player for Heresy (with whom Rose Rose played in the UK) and Concrete Sox, ran the In Your Face label. A demo called Dirty Is God was a live recording. Liquidation introduced Natsuki on guitars. The act melded grindcore into its sound. Then there was the Surrounded By Foes demo. The next demos were Deaden the Nerve Pt. I and Pt. II.

Yachi was the second guitarist on Brutalize. The band ventured into deathgrind territory here. Everyday Life was a 1998 demo. No Medicine Cures An Asshole featured Maki on drums. Neo Unknown Tranced Slayers had Takeon on second guitar and Kawaguchi Yuji on drums. Dlive Into Mosh Of Ass was a live CD and DVD. Old guitarist Yachi was in an accident and died in 2019. The band’s 2022 album was called Unseen Terror, which coincidentally was the name of a band with membership from Heresy in the old days. The Deaden The Nerve demos were compiled into Complete Deaden The Nerve in 2024. The act was part of Shinjuku Death Fest and Tokyo Brutal Fest in 2024. The Fuck War Tour was booked for 2024 and into 2025. The act was booked for Monsters Mosh Vol. 3 in Tokyo for mid-2025. Raging Fury, Extinct Government and Fastkill were opening.

The band’s name is occasionally stylized as RoseRose. A heavy metal band called Rose had a record called Rose in 1988. Consensus has it that the heavy metal Rose had the better looking members.
