History & Biography Black/death metal band Rotting was active near Toronto, Canada between 1992 and 2005. The members came from Mortally Deceased and Almost Human. The band and pre-Rotting act Abusement Park issued a split demo in 1993. The Human Race Liquidation demo of 1994 was an obvious failure. The number of humans kept on growing. Drown In Rotting Flesh was the 1995 demo. MacAulay had departed. During this period guitarist/bassist Jeff White drove around town with a giant upside down cross hanging from his rear view mirror. There were gigs with Gorguts and Oppressor. The group opened for Suffocation and Fleshgrind in 1996. United Guttural (managed by Rich Lipscomb of Fleshgrind) picked the band up and released the group's sole album. Mike Belfry left in 2000. The band was rumoured to have recorded The Original Christ Crusher with Roger Beaujard of Mortician, but the album went unreleased. The band opened for Cryptopsy and Solus in 2001. Rotting signed to Civilian Death Network in mid-2002. The band's next release was a compilation called The Forgotten, which was a mere rerelease. White went deep into American wrestling.
Reviews ROTTING - DROWN IN ROTTING FLESH
Descending out of the metal-barren Ontario region of Canada the quartet of Kory Arnold, Jeff White, Keith Devry and the recently departed, Rob MacAulay stands proud as the harbinger of true and undiluted metal. Comprised of seven titles, this band’s professionally copied and presented tape mixes speed with real heaviness in a chunky fashion, clearly facilitated by a powerful sound which allows all instruments to shine through. Simultaneously, Arnold’s vocals huff and puff and blow your speakers away. Heaviness: check. Speed: check. Aggressiveness: check. Sound: check. On the Canadian metal scene, Rotting is in a league of its own. Contact: Rotting, 312 Buckingham Road, Newmarket, Canada L3Y 6K5. - Ali “The Metallian”
