History & Biography
Mainz-based heavy metal barnstormers Rough, featuring frontwomen Anny Wichardt, were first heard through the Rock Attack demo of 1984. The inception date was 1981. It is safe to say the material for this demo would be a Nightmare and too Hard 'N Heavy for any rock fan. The likely influence was Warlock mixed with Craft. A couple of the demo songs appeared on the group's sole album, which was issued four years after the demo. The band sported a new logo now. Guitarist Joachim Hanschur and Rolf Epstein were already gone. The group was working with Scorpions' producer Dieter Dierks, but that went nowhere.

The album was called First Cut (with Anyone's Daughter Matthias "Matz" Ulmer playing keyboards), but that was it other than a self-titled demo from 1991, which actually came after the group had already disbanded. This demo featured yet another logo. In-between the album and the new demo the band opened for Axxis on tour in 1989 followed by an opening slot with W.A.S.P.. The band, now with vocalist Tanya Obenauer-Trumpp, folded. Anny had departed after the album's release. Guitarist Portugall was the last of the original members left standing. Late guitarist Stefan Heintzelmann was later in Mystic Circle (as opposed to Mystic Prophecy).
