History & Biography
Roy Last (named after American actor Roy Rodgers) was a German guitarist and singer most active in the hard rock circles of the 1980s. Roy Last Group was his heavy rock band beginning in 1979. Roy himself was the son of drummer Robert Last and nephew of the prolific James Last (who had featured his brother as a member of his orchestra), who as a band leader has sold 200 million albums. Roy got his start in his father's band. The Roy Last Group also featured bassist Wolfgang Beisel and drummer Claus Reinhold. A self-titled single preceded the debut. Singer John Boutkam came and went. The third album (released under the L.A.S.T. monicker) featured a new rhythm section and added piano man Steven Dearman Clark. In-between Roy Last had announced the dissolution of his act in 1984. Last spent time in Dirty Money then. Roy died in 2004. He was 47.
