History & Biography One of the earlier Japanese heavy/black metal bands, Sabbrabells was founded as Reading featuring Kiichi, Hiroyuki and Keiichi in 1980 and chose its eventual monicker in 1982. Kiichi was a bassist in other acts, but was singing here as a matter of necessity. The band existed for five years before disbanding. The band projected a Satanic imagery and even featured an inverted cross in its logo. Japan is not any different than the West and so the band returned in 2015. The reunion was to appear at a concert to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Anthem's debut album alongside Anthem (of course), Outrage and Double Dealer. There was a hiatus in 2018 and the band resumed officially in 2019. New music has been as scarce as a Chevrolet dealer in Tokyo since the reformation however.
All Night Metal Party '84 to '85 was both a live record and a full-length video at the time. King Records issued the All Night Metal Party ’84 To ’85 album. The concert itself boasted a line-up of Sabbrabells, Reaction, Veil and others. Dog Fight was an EP in 1985. The band's second album featured several self-cover versions. One Night Magic was not a live record. Drummer Shigeo was heard on Sailing On The Revenge. He would die of liver cancer in 2010. Singer Akama Ken fronted the band for one gig in 2015. Singer Takahashi Kiichi returned in 2018. Drummer Sekiguchi returned as of 2019. True Thrash Fest 2024 was to also feature Sabbrabells, United, Shellshock, Casbah, Genocide, Roserose and Mein Kampf among others.
