History & Biography
The Tokyo-based Sacrifice was founded by singer Sugiuchi a couple of years behind the Canadian thrashers after the demise of Bloodlust. The band was active between 1985 and 1992 before splitting up. Here they were a couple of years ahead of the Canadians. The reformation was in 2013, which again was a couple of years behind the Canucks. The band remembers receiving a letter from the Canadian Sacrifice asking them to change their monicker. Several members were in Ace In The Hole during the hiatus. During this time another Sacrifice, playing hardcore, had also formed in Japan.

Crest Of Black was a short 1986 demo. The two songs reappeared on the 1987 album of the same name. This was a pressing of 1,000 copies. The second album featured three new members! Yet another new drummer appeared on Tears.

Drummer Tachi returned for the reunion, but departed in 2023. Teru of Ice War became the drummer. Former Sabbat member Temis Osmond (Ieda Sadaki) was the guitarist. The group played the USA's New York City to begin 2020. The group played in Tokyo in late 2023. The band was booked for West Coast USA in 2025. The band appeared in Singapore in 2025. Relics From The Crypt, a sub-label of Dying Victims Productions, reissued Tears in late 2025.

Venom's Black Metal album of 1982 contained a song called Sacrifice. Sugiuchi founded the Japanese label Spiritual Beast, which ironically specialised in releasing foreign metal in Japan. He would also front another band, beginning in 1996, called Solitude, which obviously would guarantee having several namesakes around the world. Solitude, which had a couple of ex-Sacrificers, was less extreme.
