History & Biography
Sacrosanct formed as a Dutch‑German thrash metal outfit, led by German guitarist Randy Meinhard and drummer Marco Foddis (both formerly of Pestilence with the former being a Pestilence co-founder), in 1988. Another former Pestilence man, bassist Christian Colli, also was in soon. The members had left Pestilence because they did not get along with the other guys. Moreover, these guys wanted to play thrash metal, while Pestilence was drifting towards death metal. Nonetheless, the bands shared a rehearsal space. The consistent line-up changes started almost immediately. Foddis left in 1989 and rejoined Pestilence. Reason: musical differences although Meinhard would express ignorance and surprise. Meinhard himself also joined Submission (featuring ex-Pestilence man Martin Van Drunen) in 1993. The Die Is Cast was the 1989 demo. It had a black and white version of the upcoming debut album's artwork on its cover. The debut Truth Is - What Is arrived through No Remorse in 1990 showcasing thrash metal riffs and aggressive vocals by Michael Lucarelli. It was followed by Recesses For The Depraved in 1991 and was followed by a brief tour of Europe with Dark Angel and Invocator in 1992. This album featured H. R. Giger's painting Das Spiegelbild on its cover. Imperium was formed by a couple of former Sacrosanct members in 1993. The third album, the doom and groovy Tragic Intense, on 1MF featured Collin Kock on vocals, his brother Michael Kock on guitar, Christian Colli on bass and Haico Van Attikum on drums. Following that release, Sacrosanct disbanded in 1994. The album was a departure from the earlier ones.

Bands remaining dissolved is illegal and, after a long hiatus, Sacrosanct reformed in 2016 with a more progressive and melodic direction. Richard Hesselink worked with Randy at EMP Merchandising. The act released Necropolis, the fourth full‑length album, in late 2018. Gerrit Knol rejoined in 2019. He had left the act in 1992! Bassist Mario "El Cappo" Berendijk (ex-SkâldGrim) joined in 2019. He would die in 2022. Singer Ron "Brew" Brouwer came and went. His departure meant that songs and lyrics had to be scrapped and the band had to start again. Sacrosanct performed Necropolis in its entirety several times. The Ukrainian Max Morton, who was responsible for remastering the band's old work, was the producer. He would eventually become the band's singer (and play bass) in 2022. Regardless, the 'band' had reformed and recorded intending to be a studio project at first. Kidron (named after a valley in modern day Palestine that bears Biblical references) arrived six years later. It was released on March 7th 2025. The band went on to play several shows in Germany and the Netherlands in the spring of 2025, including co‑headlining Elsrock Festival and gigs alongside labelmates Black & Damned, Ancient Curse and Poverty’s No Crime.
