History & Biography
Founded as Devastation in 1986, the Bell, Los Angeles, California, USA-based act quickly became Sadistic Intent in September of 1987 and an early proponent of the death metal movement. With member changes came a monicker change. The band became Moral Crisis, but changed back to Sadistic Intent in a matter of months. A pre-Sadistic Intent band member called Alex Martinez would end up getting shot and killed soon thereafter. Reh 7/88's first track was called Outcasts Of Society. The 1989 demo Conflict Within followed. The band consisted of singer Enrique Chavez, guitarist Rick Cortez, his brother Bay Cortez and drummer Joel Marquez. The members used to have an underground zine called Deadly Distorted Noize. The group opened locally for Dark Angel in 1989. The local record shop Wild Rags pressed the band's 1990 single, Impending Doom… as the band had signed for three years. It goes without saying that the band soon accused that label of being a rip off. The group played live in the USA and over the border in Mexico. The act opened for Morbid Angel, Chronic Atrocity and Nausea in 1990. The band did a tour with Napalm Death and Bloodsoaked of Mexico in 1991. Drummer Marquez would join Bloodsoaked as well. There was a live tape called Live At The Deathcave in 1993. Bay had also taken over the vocals. Vince Cervera was the second guitarist. Other appearances included the Milwaukee Metal Fest. Cervera would leave to hit the college.

Enrique Chavez's oddly named Gothic Records released the band's Resurrection EP in 1994. Momentum was lost, however, when the band's next release was the Ancient Black Earth EP, which was issued by the brothers' own Dark Realm Records in 1997. The label was a co-venture with Gothic Records at first. Emilio Marquez was drumming. Necropolis Records announced a full-length called The Second Coming Of Darkness in 2000. Well,.... the band, label and producer (Mitch Rellas) were soon entangled in litigation after time and budgets were stretched. Bernie Versailles of Agent Steel was hired again to produce next, but instead the act became dormant after Malaysia's Misery Records began heralding the band's next/coming/soon release.

The brothers, and guitarist Ernesto Bueno, joined a reunited Possessed and made that band their priority act, while also running their label. The label was soon history. A reactivated Sadistic Intent had shared the stage with a reactivated Possessed in 2004. The band had also covered Possessed's The Exorcist in 2002. A couple of live bootlegs and compilations started making the rounds, but an EP called Reawakening Horrid Thoughts appeared in 2014. It had a Dark Throne cover among its three tracks. Upon leaving, the members and Possessed's Jeff Becerra became hostile to one another. Drummer Nick Barker was announced as a member, but that never actually worked out. Arthur Mendiola has been the drummer since 2011. The act toured Europe in 2012. Another tour was with Dehuman in 2016. Several former members began a band called Lurking Terror as of 2021. Lurking Terror was also the title for a Sadistic Intent song from Impending Doom… The group also announced a tour of Europe with Sijjin for 2022. The band was booked for the Brutal Assault of Czech Republic and the Inferno Metal Festival in Norway in 2026.
