History & Biography
The band was originally founded by keyboardist Dries Gaerdelen in Belgium in May of 2008, but members ended up in countries like Spain and The Netherlands. Another former Mortifier member Jonathan Vanderwal was soon drafted. Speaking of members, Saille is less a band and more a transient terminal for people to come and for people to go. No one currently or formerly in the band can recall the names of all the members and no one is expected to because by the time you read this someone has moved on and some temp has been drafted in his stead. In fact, who knows perhaps the group's base would become Haiti or Sweden or Iran by this time next year. Having said that, Dutch guitarist Reinier Schenk has been the one constant.

The band's first album was 2011's Irreversible Decay. The band was the aforementioned Reinier Schenk, singer and guitarist Jonathan Vanderwal, a trumpet player called Dries Gaerdelen and drummer Gert Monden (the band had a similar formation as George Michael's Careless Whisper now therefore) . There was a video clip for the song Plaigh Allais. The act was conceived to be a studio project at first, but began playing live and made it to Graspop Metal Meeting and Eindhoven in 2012. Former bassist Jonathan Vanderwal returned as guitarist in 2012. Ritu - whose concept was death in different cultures - was supported through a video for the song Blood Libel. Dana Grondelaers was on vocals. Saille was invited to perform at the Black Winter Fest in Copenhagen. The band booked a tour with Negura Bunget. Eldritch featured drummer Kevin De Leener. Gnosis added guitarist Collin Boone and bassist Kristof Van Iseghem. Didier Vancampo left and the band cited the bassist's life situation as a reason. The man soon joined Fractured Insanity. Code666 was issuing Gnosis, the fourth album from the band, which was a concept record “exploring the world of the Promethean ideal and its Luciferian counterpart” in 2017. Drummer Yoeri Gemeen was undergoing a surgery to fix the torn tendons in his right shoulder in 2018. He officially departed in 2019. French guitarist, Guillaume Singer came and went. He had originally replaced Colin Boone. 2020 EP MMXX was one of those odds and ends releases with different self-cover and live versions. V moved to Black Lion Records. Reinier Schenk contributed guitar, bass and vocals. Bassist Kristof Van Iseghem left the band after eleven years in 2025.

The Spain or Netherlands-based metal band Saille signed with Non Serviam Records for the release of a full-length album called Forebode in 2026. It arrived on the 13th of February 2026. There was a video for the song Deception Of Decadence.

While the band likes to call itself 'metal' and draw sales and attendance from metal fans, it utilises non-metal instrumentation. 'Saille' is the fourth letter of the Ogham (Ireland) alphabet, with the word meaning 'willow.' The band's name is pronounced 'sahlyeh.'
