SANCTIFICATION - BLACK REIGN - PULVERISED
Featuring some of the guys from Dark Funeral and In Battle there is no prize for guessing what Sanctification is about. Although here the style has a lot more in common with the American death metal kind than the European or Swedish one. Thirst For Blood reminds one of Morbid Angel, Nile, Cannibal Corpse and perhaps in vocals only Deicide. Moments of Black Reign are God Among Insects-like and that is perhaps the best non-American comparison. Raw goes further in solidifying the latter comparison. Eternal is a la Morbid Angel with intensity to spare. Hear This takes on a convincing satanic form, mainly due to the vocals of the now ex-member Kristoffer Hell. Dead Forever continues the path unhindered. Flesh, Bone And Skin is pure death metal, sometimes with a lower pace. Trucido Christianese is as interesting as its title. Storm closes Black Reign with a haunting intro and outro and more heavy death metal. Both Tagtgren brothers had a hand in producing Black Reign and it is therefore not lacking in that department. Partake in these 30 minutes without any hesitation. - Anna Tergel
