SCAVENGER - MADNESS TO OUR METHOD - SENTINEL
Sentinel is Ireland's heavy metal label and Scavenger is advertised as Ireland's premier heavy metal band. Pains me to say it, but boy let us hope that description is mere record company hype. After all, the band's music is sub-par, the singer's tonality leaves a few things to be desired and the production strictly amateur hour. It is a shame too because the band has its heart in the right place brandishing its pure metal stuff proudly. The album has a couple of clever moments within songs like On The Outside, Storm Warning and Prisoner Of Time, but the rest of the material merely plods along and is hampered by a sound that can only be the result of a very low recording budget. In my opinion, Scavenger needs to get a couple of more years of experience under its belt, work on the basics in the rehearsal room and come back again with a better-produced album. - Ali "The Metallian"
