Reviews SEVEN TEARS - IN EVERY FROZEN TEARS - FRONTIERS
The word 'tears' might be to this young Swedish band what 'rainbow' is to Ronnie James Dio. The tears are even on the album’s cover artwork. The bands music is not comprised of a myriad of shades, colours or styles however. Seven Tears’ debut is (not doom metal) but a fairly average and typical melodic pomp rock romp with little in the way of innovation or frills. With a competent singer who comes across as John Bush’s melodic brother and music whose fountainhead resides with Saga and Dream Theater, but borrows from Symphony X and Evergrey, the Swedes will find an audience; but the music is a tad too explored, a tad too pedestrian and a tad too mundane for this writer. A little more grit and less keyboards would have been nice. Nice guitar licks though! - Ali “The Metallian”
