Reviews SIEGE OF HATE - SUBVERSIVE BY NATURE - ENCORE/CANDLELIGHT
Siege Of Hate's Subversive By Nature was issued in the band's native Brazil in 2003, but it is only now in 2005 that the disc has found its way to Canada for an official release. Like the older bands hailing from the South American continent the main influence of this mob is hardcore or crust and not heavy metal. Remember R.D.P.? Well, Siege Of Hate takes the sounds of hardcore like early DRI (a band which is covered here) and Discharge into the realm of Napalm Death. The band's sound rages forth amidst a burst of speed and distorted anger, although metallic parts also abound - the band's logo looks like the one from the now-defunct S.O.D. magazine. The band's angry and anti-social lyrics just add to the cause. There is a cover of D.R.I.'s No Religion here, a song called U.S.A. (Unjustifiable Slaughter Of Arrogance) and one called Misleaders. This type of music can't be matched when it comes to unpretentious aggression. Just listen to songs like Forthcoming Holocaust, Self-Defense Contradictions and more. - Ali "The Metallian"
