SIEGES EVEN - THE ART OF NAVIGATING BY THE STARS - INSIDEOUT
The Art Of Navigating By The Stars is the reformation album by Germany's Sieges Even. The band had all but disappeared from the scene for ten years, although different incarnations had composed and recorded sporadically. The album's sound is clear, the playing is smooth and the members' musical ability is evident, but fact is that the album is largely dull and mostly irrelevant for metal fans. The album's consistent velvety stance is allowable and fans of Marillion, Yes, late period Rush and so forth will appreciate the material to some extent, but rock music without a hint of metal or even much that is progressive is not what anyone here has in mind as ideal music. Unbreakable ramps up the hardness with some similarities to Dream Theater, while Stigmata and the like could have been on a Yes album. Ultimately though, who cares? - Ali "The Metallian"
