Reviews SINS OF OMISSION - THE CREATION - BLACK SUN
A new breed of techno metal bands is developing in Sweden and for the most part I believe I like that I am hearing these groups compose. Based upon the foundations built by At The Gates (vocally and aggression-wise), Dark Tranquillity (technical composition and structure), as well as the under rated Crypt of Kerberos (classical guitaring), the hitherto unknown quartet release a debut noteworthy in both strength of material and maturity of purpose. While the band clearly adhere to strictly-laid guidelines of heaviness; they don't let the matters lay to rest there, engaging in strongly well thought out arrangements fraught with detail, time changes and able dual guitar didactics. Little attention is paid to the conventional. Yet the band's magic lies in their maintenance of the speed and aggression that is the kernel of heavy metal. Raspy vocals, fluid strings and a warm/ low drum sound are only accentuated by a lively production sound the envy of bands who I am certain spend three times as much on striving engineers. Anyone who can supply me with a band contact address should get in touch as I am itching to find out the story behind the band's odd moniker. - Ali "The Metallian"
