Reviews SJODOGG - LANDSCAPES OF DISEASE AND DECADENCE - OSMOSE
Sordid moodiness, uncompromising metal or underground super group are all terms that would and could easily apply to Sjodogg, a band that is comprised of members of Enthral, The Flesh and Crest Of Darkness. Evoking the sound of late-era Immortal and offering touches of Deathspell Omega and even Horde the Norwegian four offer significant deathly atmospheric intermixed with face ripping blackened evil. The emphasis is on the blending of the elements however helping the album achieve relative impact due to the beefy riffs and great sound. Speaking of which, this thing has been produced just right to be both heavy and clear. It is the perfect sound for this type of music. The vocals of Vulnus deserve special attention for his sheer believability. His performance on The Asphyxiation is nothing short of impressive. This album is not the fastest or the most original record out there, but blazes a path of significance nonetheless. - Anna Tergel
