Reviews SLITER - THINK OTHER WISE - OPTIC/AKOM
Look, to be perfectly honest, no one at Metallian Towers was under the illusion that Japan's Sliter would be the next Loudness or anything approaching that quality. That was a given, but Sliter's debut full-length is really not that good at all. Saying so is a pity because one wants to support upstart and well-meaning underground labels like Akom, but the band's so-so music and the inept and powerless singing of You Adachi leave one little choice. The group's music comes across as a thrash metal concoction mixed with rock and offbeat music. There are several interesting parts to be had here and there. There is no such reprieve for the vocals though as You maims the band and anything for which it could have stood. Seeing that Adachi also plays the guitar Sliter's best bet is to hand over the microphone to somebody else and let You concentrate on his stronger of two skills. - Ali "The Metallian"
