Morbid Records has not had a release this good in several months, but is now back on track with the release of Spawn's Human Toxin. The band plays death metal - no prizes for guessing - that is good, competent, real and committed. The sound is a cross between Massacre, Cannibal Corpse and maybe Baphomet while the vocals are Lord Worm meets Corpsegrinder. The vocalist is convincing and dangerous and the guitarist is the band's ace with his big and chunky attack. Spawn is let down by the drummer No. somewhat who speeds up and slows down in tandem with the rest of the band. His neophyte drumming restrains the band. Finally, and on the lyrical front, titles like Hemoglobin (with its constant chant), Flesheater, Vicious Blood Internal and the album's title point to a concept.
