Chicago's Superchrist is apparently not the type of band to follow the norm. How else could one explain the band's choice of Iron Maiden's Running Free as the lead track on its full-length? The version sounds like it was performed by Motörhead which, it soon becomes apparent, is the band's trademark. The band's 'Lemmy' is singer/bassist Chris Black who it must be emphasized can handle his instrument. Listen for the bass on Hurry up And Bleed for instance. The band not only sounds like Motörhead, but also goes on to cover that band later on the disc. The band is otherwise staffed by a duo with the conflicting names of Hank Bitchlover and Whorepuncher. The latter is victorious in the band's lyrics if the song title She'd Look Better With A Black Eye is to be believed. Superchrist is a raw, honest and organic metal band the completely eschews the layerisms and imagery of contemporary metal acts. - Ali "The Metallian"
