Reviews SUPERJOINT RITUAL - USE ONCE AND DESTROY - SANCTUARY
Out of the underground and into the reefer's hut, Use Once And Destroy is a crossover collection with songs culled from sessions between 1989 and 1999. Phil Anselmo (Pantera) screeches one minute and screams the next in a manner reminiscent of The Accused. He sounds frantic. The music is equal parts hardcore punk and equal parts Sabbath-laden riff. Take time to listen closely to track number four, The Introvert, and you will hear back-to-back patented punk and Marty Friedman copy (on Holy Wars) riffing. One surprise appearance is bassist III who is no other than the grandson of Hank Williams. A special nod goes to the solid drum sound where both the snare and the bass drums have captured a fine and heavy kick. All in all, Superjoint Ritual is not much of a departure for these musicians and members of Pantera, Down and Eyehategod.
