SWEET SILENCE - FALLEN ANGEL - ANVIL
Get ready for some surprises here. Sweet Silence is a thrashcore act with chanting group vocals, chunky rhythms and tribal drumming. The name and the cover might tell you otherwise, but Sweet Silence is a band that alternates between thrashing either in fast or mid-paced mode. Not that judging a book by the cover is the way to go, but the digipak certainly looked set to be either progressive or power metal. Instead a bright and clear sound value represent instruments which aim to thrash more than anything else. Having said that, Sweet Silence, who are probably French, can have very pleasing and meticulous melodies when they wish. The offending synthesizer interludes have to go though. They are superfluous and serve no purpose here. Intriguing titles like Devil I @m, 2Pi and Pocket Nazi -make me wish I knew more about the band, but alas there is no contact information on the disc. Fans can look into this CD with a cool digipak presentation featuring blue exterior and a wholly different red vista on the inside.
