TARANTULA - METALMORPHOSIS - AFM
Let us get something right quickly. The boys have called the album Metalmorphosis, signed to AFM and have a chick on the cover who looks like she also works with Metalium, but the long-haired guys from Portugal are hard rocking veterans and not into power or thrash metal. Cool.
The band has been rocking hard for 25 years and it shows because the group is fluent in its art with good vocals, convincing songs and a style that could be a mix of TNT, Bon Jovi and White Tramp. Not many bands play in this style anymore so hearing Tarantula is a treat. It is not extraordinary or phenomenal by any measure, although the listener will hardly hear anything to complain about. Some songs are harder and some songs (like The Bleeding Land) are more relaxed. New Tomorrow starts with an effect like Bon Jovi and Your Promised Land is just plain mainstream. Metalmorphosis does not always excite and entice even if the band's style is uncommon enough to be precious in itself nowadays. - Sheila Wes Det
