The oddest thing about Third Degree is the band's biography. The following quotations highlight the contradiction: "...merged with groovy metal/noise elements comparable to Neurosis and Godflesh..." and "No nonsense grind." Well, which one is it? The answer, thankfully, is the latter.
The new album of the Polish quintet is indeed an exercise in straightforward and no-nonsense grindcore. A comparison to Napalm Death with the buzzing guitars, barking vocals and the partly sarcastic lyrics - although they are partially in Polish - is clearly in order. Third Degree is a tad darker than the British originators and the rare deviation from straight grinding appears on a song like Never Gonna Get Me with its ambient interruption.
