It has long been an edict of Metallian Towers that no one is 'true' unless he spells Thorr with two r's.
Thorr's Hammer was a short-lived American project in the mid-'90s featuring Stephen O'Malley (who went on to form other bands and work for a label in England), Southern Lord's Anderson and Mrs Emperor Ihsahn, singer Runhild Gammelsaeter. This is a re-release and the focus seems to be on the physique of the singer. Yes, there are other members and there is music (Grief-meets-Winter), but with Runhild adoring the cover, inside card, back cover, second page of the booklet and everywhere else it is eminently clear how this CD is being marketed. Indeed her deep growls are impressive and in contrast to her clean singing even more so, but she can't be that true after all if she is in bed with a member of Emperor.
Confusion aside, fans of blonde Norwegian chicks will love this CD. Fans of deep, dark and heavy doom may pick this up too - just pretend you did it for the photos if someone at Southern Lord asks for the reason. - Ali "The Metallian"
