Those Who Bring The Torture is yet another band of serial death metaller Roger Johansson - sorry, due to bandwidth imitations we cannot print his entire band member ship list - and as with most of his output is a decent to above average release. Never the fastest or the heaviest death metal out there, Tank Gasmask Ammo is nonetheless an extreme and brutal growl fest that relies on tangible riffing and the odd insertion of melody to get its point across. There are a few subtleties to be found, which keep things interesting like the words recorded under the music as the album begins, but from there on the album is a good example of thrashy Swedeath with analogy to Unleashed, War and Grave. And yes, given those comparisons, the band has quite a bit of heavy and thrash metal riffs embedded into its music Admittedly, this is yet another album cover with a tank on it (Marduk, Enthroned, Centinex, Exodus, Impaled Nazarene and Lethal Prayer), but the band has it all out with the beast atop the armoured vehicle. Perhaps, the whole concept, including the title, artwork and song titles like Napalm God, Riders Of The Mushroom Cloud or Radiation Blessed, has a political angle after all. For now though, expect some pounding old (real) school death metal. - Ali “The Metallian"
