Reviews TOURETTES - TREASON SONGS - ARMAGEDDON
Yes, Tourettes is probably a reference to neurological disease, but one still cannot but feel like the name is a throwback to the '60s Motown bands. Michael Roe & The Tourettes! Gibb Barrymore & The Tourettes on Tour! And so it goes.
The band is nominally brutal with thrashy riffs, but sadly mixes far too many interludes and concoctions to fully make an impact. The music is metal of the underground variety, but the occasional synthesizers or the Fear Factory gimmicks on Miss Misogyny - ah, the cleverettes - dampen the atmosphere. It is fast and it is brutal, but is it heavy, furious o wild? No. The vocals growl and grunt and gruff, but honestly come across a mix of Corrosion Of Conformity and White Zombie on the songs Seasoned in Destruction and Hope Springs Eternal. Not bad for a female vocalist one presume, but is this something one would play repeatedly? No again. - Anna Tergel
