TRAP THEM - SEIZURES IN BARREN PRAISE - DEATHWISH INC.
Featuring ex-Backstabbers Inc. vocalist Ryan McKenney and former December Wolves guitarist Brian Izzi, Trap Them combines the unleashed rage of those collectives and then filters it through Cursed and Disfear in their most severely distressed state (which is saying a lot, given the nature of both those groups). Backstabbers Inc.’s ’04 record Kamikaze Missions is one of the most intense of the decade and it’s no surprise that its wrath translates over into Trap Them and latest effort Seizures In Barren Praise, an album that is mostly speed-infatuated and taken aback by the likes of Entombed, Motörhead, Napalm Death (at moments) and, as mentioned, Cursed. Seizures In Barren Praise is a monstrous proposition, the record being thick, intense and - above all - fast, Trap Them very rarely stopping the marathon for any reason, except maybe that eventual bout of dehydration. This is the kind of album that motivates and shines harshly, summarily letting everyone know that the ante has been upped in that category called “fucking pissed”. - James Tape
