Reviews TYGERS OF PAN TANG - ELECTRIFYED - MIGHTY
Jack Meille has been singing for Tygers Of Pan Tang for something like 20 years, but his voice (not to mention his hair) is familiar to me because of the Sainted Sinners albums I’ve been listening to recently. He has a good voice and puts out some hard-rocking energy, so it’s no surprise that he gets around. The song starts as if it’s going to go down the path of doom metal, but Electrifyed is a hard-rock album from start to finish. It is also a riddle. The songs are good, the production is better, and the vocals are impressive, but all put together, it’s somewhat ho-hum. I guess the songs aren’t that good after all and the album as a whole doesn't stand out as anything special. The bio mentions NWOBHM, but this is a modern hard rocker above all else. There’s some Mötley Crüe here, some Zeppelin on The Nail (the vocals are different here), and some music that sounds like bands influenced by Zeppelin, like The Fight Goes On (Kingdom Come). Then there’s the title track, which tackles American capital punishment culture. “Gonna get electrified..., I am gonna get electrified! The Powers That Be is the rocker with the rocking drumming and sweeping guitars. Revenge Is Sweet is the AOR track. It is somehow painfully obvious that the vocals and the music were recorded separately. There is nothing overly wrong with this album, except that it just doesn’t pull any aces.- Sheila Wes Det
