UNEARTH - ALIVE FROM THE APOCALYPSE (2DVD) - METAL BLADE  
A DVD is an apt medium for a band like Unearth as their famous stage antics and over the top stage presence shines through in this visual medium. The first DVD is a recording of a show in California. Eleven songs covering most of the band’s 10-year history are presented with good quality sound. The 45 minutes provide enough opportunity to get glimpses of the bands stage show which, if nothing else, is unusual, witness for example doing push-ups on stage. The second DVD features a lengthy piece with numerous short clips of other bands’ members commenting on Unearth and their adventures. Here various members from Shadows Fall, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, Pantera’s Vince Abbott and many others are seen. A major portion of the documentary style segment is dedicated to the band’s history and each member’s funny and sometimes downright disgusting habits. This double DVD offers a bit more than the usual and is as revealing as any music DVD can be. Definitely a lot to see here, especially on the second DVD, there is plenty of fun for the fan and non-fan here. - Anna Tergel
