Reviews VICTORY - FUEL TO THE FIRE - ARMAGEDDON
What a pleasant surprise this album has turned out to be. This might be a 'best of' compilation and feature re-recorded songs from Victory’s past, but Fuel To The Fire is a damn fine slab of hard rock as any out there. In fact, this album plain smokes. And it gets better with every subsequent listen.
It cannot be a coincidence that the album begins with Standing Like A Rock. How apropos! Don’t Tell No Lies (catchy refrain, blazing lead), Take The Pace, the blazing Running Scared; Backseat Rider (boogie tone) and the thrashy Rebel Ready cannot be improved upon. Where have I been all these years with Victory? Even the newer and unreleased song I Felt It Coming is surprisingly powerful.
Be it hard rock, heavy metal, AOR or balladry Victory featuring Tommy Newton, Fritz Randow, Herman Frank, Peter Knorn and new singer Jioti Parcharidis have a song for you. It is probably helps not to be a fan of the songs’ original versions and not being familiar with the earlier singers, although the music and the vocals here should really speak for themselves.
Victory needs to prove it means business by writing and recording an album of new material that can meet the standard set with Fuel To The Fire. - Ali “The Metallian”
