Reviews VINTERSORG - VISIONS FROM THE SPIRAL GENERATOR - NAPALM
Instructions: place your hand in your wallet, pull out the money, place
in
the toilet and flush. That way at least you will not suffer through
this
excuse for metal, nay music. Vintersorg is the epitome all that is
wrong
within the 'heavy metal' scene. The band is pompous and boring. It
mixes
screamed vocals with hoarse singing, metallic passages with
keyboard-blasted
pop rock goth pieces on top of funky bass slapping, acoustic and
electric
guitar doodling and moments representative of the Eagles. There are odd
quiet moments interspersed within the music and samples all over the
place.
The drumming is advertised as the cure for insomnia and banned for
listening
while driving - by federal law! The layered vocals are irksome and the
lyrics seemingly alternate between English and Norwegian. Who can be
sure
though for one is not going to stick around long enough to find out?
The
strong accents come across loudly and clearly during the slower moments
sung
in English. What a messy and silly concoction this has turned out to
be. I
enjoyed this album... as much as a swift kick to the head!
VINTERSORG - SOLENS RÖTTER – NAPALM
This mixture of gobbledygook stop-go rhythms, clean chants, violins, gruff screams and folk rock is completely unfunny. Vintersorg might very well be the motivation behind the invention of the anechoic chamber.
I’d wager that even Vintersorg himself doesn’t listen to this jumbled mess. He himself must marvel at his trendy fans that actually bother. - Ali “The Metallian”
