Reviews WASTEFORM - IGNORANCE THROUGH SOVEREIGNTY - XTREEM
What can a reviewer say that the band itself has not? After all, everything written about a band by a critic is derived from the band's own composition. In this sense, and in a bout of appropriateness, Wasteform is a waste of time and money for everyone concerned.
A New York death metal band might enjoy some distinction for, after all, bands like Suffocation and Pyrexia came from the area. Think again. Wasteform is a derivative, repetitive and tedious journey that is content to go through the motions. The vocalist feigns a growl, and manages little power. The drummer is inconsequential and it is only the occasional guitar/bass collusion that delivers a scrap of power. The beginnings of the songs Faith Is Dead and Of Blind Consequence... (once one gets past the many interludes and intros that is ) are those instances.
If death metal is supposed to maim and kill, then Wasteform are mere masqueraders on the battlefield. - Ali "The Metallian"
