Denmark-based duo KOLD has an album called Det Falmede Håb (‘The Faded Hope’) through Vendetta Records as of September 5th, 2025.

Copenhagen, Denmark-based black metal quintet MORILD has a full-length album, Disse Fugle Får Ingen At Se, out through Vendetta Records. Written and recorded between winter of 2020 and autumn of 2023, the record spans four tracks over 45 minutes.

Horror Pain Gore Death Productions is releasing grindcore band VIOLENT TESTIMONY’s Aggravate album on October 17th 2025. The band is compared to NAPALM DEATH and IMPALED NAZARENE.

Belgium-based death metal band ABYSMAL DESCENT, a new group forged from the ashes of DEHUMAN, has completed its line-up and has a debut full-length called Dismal Thoughts. It will be released through Nuclear Winter Records on October 31st, 2025.

Spain-based death metal band UNDEAD has an EP called This Side Of The Grave through Edged Circle Productions. The EP contains the, by now obligatory for every band, self-cover version of a song called Blood Enemy from 2015.

Sweden-based death metal band CRUENTUS will release an album called End Without End through Kvlt Und Kaos Productions on 03.10.2025.

Deathcore band SPITE will release a full-length album New World Killer through Rise Records on 31.10.2025.

Germany-based powerviolence and crossover duo BREATHE//DIE has a demo called Gestalt through the Tidal Force Records imprint.

Gore House Productions has signed solo goregrind act CORDYCEPS CORPSE. The label will reissue the band’s latest full-length, From Flesh To Fluids. It was originally issued on sole member Nani’s Knifeboofing Records imprint. There is a music video for the song From Flesh To Fluids.

France-based deathcore band WIDESPREAD DISEASE has signed with Art Gates Records. The band is in the studio working on a new release.

The “openly militant, anti-capitalist” France-based crossover band SINISTER DAYS has a demo called Disconnect Society.

In Hell I Call To Darkness is the title for the new demo by New York, USA-based solo act, INCINERATION IN THE INFINITE. The style is described as black/doom metal. The man in charge Ömer Doğramacı also has a demo called Death & Agony for his FRAGMENTARY SOLID ABYSS project. This act is dark metal albeit with synthesisers.

Germany-based punk black metal band VENDUL has a full-length called Castle Curtains through Crawling Chaos.

Side-project AVDAGATA, based in Sweden, has an album called The Apocalyptic Aeon through At Dawn Records on the 28th of November 2025. This album is shaped around an apocalyptic future. The members are also in acts like DARK FUNERAL, NIGHT CROWNED, etc.

It’s the eternal farewell routine: WATAIN is reporting that it would release another album and tour in support before disbanding in 2028. The planned exit coincides with the act’s 30th anniversary.

Poland-based black metal group CODEX NERO has an album, called Ordo Acherontis, through Liber Khaos Productions.

Musician Gabriele Gramaglia (COSMIC PUTREFACTION, VERTEBRA ATLANTIS, TURRIS EBURNEA, among others) is only in half a dozen other projects so he needed a new act. LUGUBRIOUS GARMENT’s Demo MMXXV will be distributed through Nuclear Winter Records.

SIX FEET UNDER has cancelled its Midnight In Hell tour of the USA due to “unforeseen circumstances” and is looking at rescheduling them for 2026.

Colombia-based death/grind band FLAGELO has its Insaciable demo rereleased through Nuclear Winter Records (CD and LP) and Night Terrors Records (MC) on 31.10.2025. The band was founded in 2022.

25 years after formation, Chile-based INANNA had decided to disband.

Sweden-based ROT FESTER will have its Condone And Condemn debut EP rereleased. It was originally released through Kvot Und Kaos, which the band deems to be a “scam label.” The band is working on a full-length called Death Row.

Ardua Music will release 2.5 Nighttime, a new EP from Italy-based solo act ARS ONIRICA on October 24th 2025.

Austria-based RICHTHAMMER has uploaded a song called Parasitismus. The death/black metal band’s lyrics here alternate between German and English.

Italy-based duo TENEBRO shall release a record called Una Lama D’Argento through Time To Kill Records later this year. TENEBRO has conceived it as a tribute to horror director Dario Argento.

SINISTER booked a North American tour, but lost drummer Simon Škrlec who had been with the act for three years.

UK-based thrash metal band STRUCK A NERVE has signed with Listenable Records for the release of its self-titled debut record. It will be released on the 28th of November 2025. It is unclear whether the independent release previously scheduled for October will also proceed.

USA-based death/thrash band BLOOD AND BRUTALITY has a demo called Wrath Upon on October 1st, 2025. The band was founded in 2008.

Rottweiler Records will release a single by Indonesia-based white metal act SHAMASH, called The Gulf Between Us, on October 3rd 2025. The band is working on a new full-length.

Side-project MORBIKON, featuring members of MUNICIPAL WASTE and FINNTROLL, has a full-length called Lost Within The Astral Crypts through Tankcrimes on November 21st 2025.

Thrash Metal band STAINLESS MADNESS will issue a debut album called Disciples, which will be released through Art Gates Records on November 14th, 2025. The album was self-produced and has a recurring theme surrounding death.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM has signed a worldwide contract with Austrian label Napalm Records. A new album is expected in 2026.

The band was founded by school-mates in 2003 and began playing cover versions before working on originals as of 2007. Trois-Rivieres, Canada thrash/melo metal band OUTLYING is back after a decade of absence with a full-length demo called Oblivisci.

France-based sludge metal band GOATFATHER has an album, called House Of The Rising Smoke, through Argonauta Records on 24.10.2025.

Gods of originality awaken! What’s next? Will they do an “anniversary” “set” at a “festival’ when they “drop” their album? They incorporate Japanese cultural influences, Japanese folklore and Japanese “voice acting”: Finland-based KARU has a lyric video for the song Shadow War off its new album Perdition, which is out through Rockshots as of September 16th. Speaking of trendy cliches, the keyboardist doesn’t do keyboards. He does “orchestrations.” The band is composed of singer and keyboardist Niko Hienonen, guitarist Kalle Pöyskö and Toni Tieaho (ex-MORS PRINCIPIUM EST and CRYSTALIC).

Germany-based DARKNESS has released the Death Squad Chronicles through Massacre Records. It features three new songs as well as the usual self-cover versions. To add to the cliches, the release purports to be for the band’s 40th anniversary.

Embarrassing: A Germany-based band called DEATH IN FICTION has an album called Rotting Society through Hicktown Records. There is a cover version of ABBA, which the band calls “ABBA death-metal cover of Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!,” yet the description reads, “A merciless storm of pain, torment, and the burning question: Will humanity ever awaken?” Indeed, will humanity ever awaken?

The solo project of Patrick Schmidt, VAN DIEMEN’s Van Diemen III demo is available now.

The solo project of Mathieu Legrand, aka Ruptur, called EXUTORY has a demo called Post Scaenae.

Canada-based thrash metal band TRISKELYON has an album, called Maelstrom Of Chaos, through Moribund Records in November. Like all releases there is a guest musician. In this case, Liv Jagrell of LIV SIN contributes vocals.

UK-based SUFFERING has an album called Things Seen But Always Hidden through Apocalyptic Witchcraft in late November.

Canada-based melo-death metal act OMNIVIDE has an EP, called Arise, through Seek & Strike.

Portugal-based GODARK has a demo called Omniscience on 05.11.2025. The band is compared to INSOMNIUM and AMORPHIS.

Solo white metal act LATTER DAY EXPLOITS has a release called Within Consumed through The Charon Collective.

LYCANTROPHILIA, a duo from Germany and France, that is compared to CRADLE OF FILTH, has a demo called The Tyranny Of Decay.

Poland-based funeral doom act YSIGIM reissued its 1994 album Ain Soph Or through Dying Sun Records.

To promote another ‘collaboration’ release called Stygian Bough: Vol II, BELL WITCH and folk rock act AERIAL RUIN will conduct the Stygian Bough European Tour in January and February of 2026. 40 WATT SUN will open.

Hungary-based WITCHER has a full-length called Öröklét through Filosofem Records and Beveria Productions. There is a video for the song Örökség.

So-called symphonic band HADES DESCENT has a demo called THE MONOLITH. The demo is released through the act’s imprint, Atlas Creative. Rules must be obeyed, cliches respected and trends are followed and so Brian Kingsland and Karl Sanders of NILE and Björn Strid of SOILWORK make guest appearances.

Halifax, Canada-based ANCIENT THRONES has a full-length demo, Melancholia, as of September 19th, 2025. Cliche-wise it is partly described as with “cinematic storytelling.”

Canada-based SELIAS has an album, entitled Killkarma, through Wormholedeath in 2025. The band’s sound includes keyboards and is self-described as, “heavier, cinematic…”

Calgary, Canada-based KARNAGE THROUGH CROSSING (KTX) has uploaded a song called The Underground, which is taken from a forthcoming demo that is due in 2026. The band was born from the ashes of NOVA 1.

WARRANT is still around! And so is Massacre Records!! WARRANT's The Speed Of Metal album will be issued on 10.10.2025.

Japan-based power/thrash metal band MELT4 has a demo called Meltpolis.

Portugal-based LADON HEADS has a debut album, entitled Steel For Fire, through Lost Realm Records. The band was founded in 2022.

UK-based WAR GRAVE issued Free Will, a full-length demo of "classic heavy metal" on September 26th 2025.

Canada-based TALES OF DESTINY has returned from a hiatus of over a decade and issued a self-cover version demo called Ashes Of Destiny. The songs stem from 1995 to 2010.

Germany-based heavy metal act HARKON has a debut album called Love And Vore through Doc Gator Records on 31.10.2025.

UK-based heavy metal band STUKA SQUADRON has a video for the song Zabulon's Inferno and is conducting the South Of Heaven, North Of Hull Tour of the UK.

TAILGUNNER has signed with Napalm Records and is working on an album, which will be produced by KK Downing.

Following the uploading of the song 666 earlier in the summer DAMIEN HAMADA'S CREATURES will issue an album called Shin Sekai Mokushiroku in November. Sony will release the album by the band featuring SEKIMA-II's Hamada.

Alternative/sludge band VOID OF SLEEP has an album called The Abyss Into Which We All Have To Stare through Aural Music on the 17th of October 2025. The band utilised synthesisers to compose the music.

Czech Republic and Norway-based COLOSALIST has an album called Two Suns through Hoggorm Music. The album was recorded in Finland and is promoted through a video for the song Die Inside Me.

Spain-based hard and heavy band SAÜC has a demo called Catarsi. The band's sound leans more towards "alternative" now.

More anniversaries: TAROT will tour its homeland of Finland, as part of the group's 40th anniversary, to begin 2026. ARION will open.

SULPHUR AND MERCURY - now based in Finland - has uploaded a song called Summon The Seer. The song features keyboards by Freddy Delirio of DEATH SS.

36 years after the release of an album called Big Bang, HEAVY PETTIN is releasing a new record. Entitled Rock Generation, it will be released through Silver Lining Music on 24.10.2025. There is a video for the song Rock Generation.

Germany-based doom metal band NAEVUS has a record called Back Home through Dying Victim Productions. The band's last release was in 2016.

Croatia-based doom metal group OLD NIGHT has signed with Meuse Music Records. An album, called Mediterranean Melancholy, will be released on November 21st, 2025.

Germany-based stoner/doom band ST. UNHOLYNESS has a demo called Through High Holy Haze out on the 25th of December 2025. The music was written between 2017 and 2025. The duo is looking for a drummer in order to play live.

Luxembourg-based Ambient and doom band KRATON has a video for a song called Spiritualité Sombre. The band was founded in 2011.

Guitarist AVA TOTON has uploaded a song called Decay featuring drummer Ace Arze Freeman. Both were in ALPHA Z together. Toton has stepped away from a "turbulent super group” project that "nearly stalled her music career." The song arrives ahead of Ava’s next release, Phoenix, a song she originally co-wrote with members of BLACK SERAPHIM. After watching the band debut its own version of the song in a livestream, Ava realized she needed to release her version.

VICTORY has signed with SPV/Steamhammer. A new studio album is due for release in the autumn of 2026. The band was previously on AFM Records, which has now shuttered operations. However, the band had also released music earlier through Steamhammer. The band appeared at Wacken and Rock Hard festivals this summer.

Following their final tour and final final show in 2024, TWISTED SISTER is touring again for its 50th anniversary. The lineup for this reunion is Dee Snider on vocals, Jay Jay French and Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda on guitar, Rusell Pzutto on bass and Joe Franco on drums.

Canada-based instrumental prog act PHAETON has a demo called Neurogenesis through the INB Music imprint. Keyboardist Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER) makes a guest appearance.

Another self-cover version release: Brazil-based pomp rock and folk act LOTHLÖRYEN has released …Of Bards And Madmen [Reimagined]. The song Moriality was launched together with a graphic novel that set the tone for the demo’s narrative. The original release was on Force Majeure Records.

Ireland-based folk and hard rock band CELTIC LEGACY has a single called Golden Sun through its own imprint, Eternal Legacy Records. It is the second of three standalone singles planned for this year, leading up to the closing track Never Too Late.

Is it "iconic"? Is it "legendary"? Perhaps it's "cinematic"? What's with the trend of 'metal' musicians wearing cowboy hats?
