JAWTRAP has a demo called Hellscape. The new grindcore outfit hailing from the underground scene of Aalborg, Denmark is the brainchild of punk rock veteran Niels Højgaard Sørensen (STÖJ SNAK, MIGHTY MIDGETS, LEMLÆSTET FORSTERBRÆK and others). There is a video for the song Who Would Jesus Bomb?

Romania-based grindcore/deathcore band SPIRITUAL RAVISHMENT has a demo called Exit Humanity. There is a video for the song Enemy Mine. Exit Humanity continues the narrative introduced in SPIRITUAL RAVISHMENT’s debut full-length of 2010. Work on this album began more than five years ago.

Greece-based black/death metal band WARHAMMER has a video for a song called Surpassing. It marks a first preview of an upcoming album, called Algos, set for release in 2026.

Singapore-based grindcore band WORMROT has a 23-date headlining tour of Europe, with GUMMO supporting, this autumn.

Young Chile-based death metal band CHROWLER has uploaded a song called Dead By Acid, which will feature on the group’s debut demo. It is due in the final quarter of 2025.

France-based goregrinders PULMONARY FIBROSIS and Germany-based REPULSIVE FEAST have a split 7″ entitled Fetish Of Gore. It is a co-release by Gurgling Gore (USA), Lycanthropic Chants (GER), Grindfather Productions (UK), Grindhead Records (AUS) and ZAS Autoproduzioni. The song is about the serial killer Adolfo Constanzo.

Greece-based death metal band DEAD CONGREGATION has a 2-week tour of North America in September and October. On select shows openers will be CRUCIAMENTUM, CAUSTIC WOUND, CORPUS OFFAL and BLASPHEMATORY.

Finland-based GRAVE HEX has a debut album, called Vermian Death, through Night Terrors Records (cassette) and Cavernous Records (CD) on 22.08.2025. GRAVE HEX was formed by Matti (of hardcore band VAINOA), Miikka (VAINOA) and Martti (ex-LOKA and ex-RADIEN) in Helsinki in March 2024.

Dying Victims Productions and Fucking Kill Records will release Violence, the debut full-length by Germany-based SADISTIC GOATMESSIAH in September.

Sweden-based death metal band KATAKOMBA has signed with Majestic Mountain Records and will release a record, called The Second Death, in October 2025.

BLISS OF FLESH has a new album, Metempsychosis, through Black Lion Records on 17.10.2025. It follows 2020’s Tyrant.

Horror Pain Gore Death has rereleased the self-titled debut EP of MENTAL FUNERAL from 2008. The new edition includes the previously unreleased instrumental track Tortured Visions. The solo act’s member is the label’s own Mike Juliano. The act also appears on the label’s wrestling compilation.

Canada-based OBVURT has an album called An Alternate Dimension through Brutal Mind. The song Hold On To Hope is inspired by guitarist Jason Becker, who has lived with Lou Gehrig’s disease for more than thirty years. There is also a video for the song Hold On To Hope.

Finland-based BLOODY MOON has a video for the song My Payoff, which is taken from the band’s Lost & Damned full-length. It will be out through Inverse Records on October 31, 2025.

Finland-based PROSCRIPTION has a full-length, entitled Desolate Divine, through Dark Descent Records in August 2025. Guitarist Cruciatus had been replaced by Kalle Laanto this year.

Poland-based black metal band MYSTHICON will have a full-length demo called Bieśń on September 23rd, 2025.

Houtekiet (Joris Stein Bachus Van Der Doolaert Houtekiet), the guitarist for the disbanded The Netherlands-based black metal band WALPURGISNACHT, has killed himself.

ARCHAIC OATH, a newly formed black metal band featuring members of MARCHE FUNÈBRE (singer Arne Vandenhoeck) and HEMELBESTORMER, has signed with AOP Records.

Crawling Chaos Records will release ABSOLUTUM’s Endura album on the 6th of September 2025. This is an album described as being influenced by US black metal. The revamped line-up is Stéphane Gerbaud (ÆVANGELIST) – vocals, Christian Kolf (VALBORG and OWL) – guitar, Stefan Braunschmidt (HVRT and RAPTVRE) – bass and Christoph Glanemann (NACHTS and TOTAL NEGATION) – drum.

Ghostigmatah – Spiritual Rites Of The Psychopomp Abxulöm is the title for the latest full-length by France-based solo act ESOCTRILIHUM. It is out through I, Voidhanger Records on September 5th, 2025.

Hessian Firm has re-released Lord Of Nightmare, the debut full-length from the defunct Japan-based solo black metal act ENDLESS DISMAL MOAN. It was originally released in 2006 through Blackmetal.com. The band’s Chaos 9 committed suicide in 2008.

Copenhagen, Denmark-based PUSTULANT FLESH will release its debut EP Gurgling Pustulence through Extremely Rotten Productions on August 08, 2025.

Finland-based MOURNIATY will release its debut full-length Musta Maa (‘Black Earth’) through Inverse Records in November.

Finland-based MALFORMED has released its debut full-length, Confinement Of Flesh, through Dark Descent Records and Extremely Rotten Productions as of late July.

Montreal, Canada-based death and hardcore band SCORCHING TOMB has signed to Time To Kill Records for the release of a debut album. Originally formed by tattooer Vincent P.L. (vocals) and guitarist Philippe Leblanc in 2018, SCORCHING TOMB has since added Miguel Lepage (ex–BLIND WITNESS, ex–OBEY THE BRAVE) on bass and Émile Savard (PROFANE ORDER, ex–MALEBRANCHE) on drums.

USA-based death and hardcore band BONGINATOR will release a full-length called Retrodeath through Testimony Records on October 24, 2025. There are videos for the songs Pizza Time and All Cops Are Biomechs.

Australia-based WEREWOLVES formed in 2019 with the express purpose of releasing ten albums in ten years. 2025 sees them pass the halfway mark with The Ugliest Of All on Back On Black.

Brazil-based VIOLATOR has a comeback album called Unholy Retribution, through Kill Again Records on the 5th of September 2025. The song Chapel Of The Sick “applies to the pandemic context, the neo-fascist nightmare that has ravaged Brazil” and “a clear metaphor for Palestinian resistance. And that the ‘chapel of the sick’ is the State of Israel itself, in its most bloodthirsty form.” The band is singer and bassist Poney Ret Crucifier, guitarists Capaça Bloody Nightmare and Cambito Chains Killer and drummer Batera Bone Crusher.

USA-based thrash metal band VOID has a video for the song Judas Cradle. It is taken from the band’s upcoming record, which is called Forbidden Morals.

Rude Awakening Records will release SHARDANA’s The Monarch album. Several songs’ lyrics are in Sardinian. The band is compared to BORKNAGAR. The band is booked for Sons Of Rock Metal Fest and Cosmic Void Festival.

NEW WORLD DEPRESSION has a lyric video for the song Carnage. The track is from the band’s full-length Abysmal Void, which will be released through Testimony Records in September.

Brazil-based white metal band NO MORE DEATH has a demo called The Death Is Dead. The band is the follow-up act to MAD DRAGZTER.

Canada-based duo BLOOD BRAIN BARRIER has a demo called Windows Drenched In Red, which was released on July 29, 2025.

Sweden-based atmospheric band AN ABSTRACT ILLUSION has a video and single, entitled No Dreams Beyond Empty Horizons, released through Willowtip Records.

Andorra-based groovy and melodic IN ECLIPSE has joined the Art Gates Records roster.

Canada-based metalcore act UNPUNISHED has a demo, called Echoes Of History, on September 5th, 2025. Originally formed as tribute act TIDAL WAVE, performing songs by TRIVIUM and PARKWAY DRIVE, the band reinvented itself during the pandemic. Guests are trendy and a must and so Burn The Traitors features guest vocals from Alex Leblanc (ex-FRACTURUS and ex-NEURAXIS).

GRAVEN, the “somber” one-man project of Italian artist Luca Pasini, has a debut demo, called March Of The Broken, as of June 10, 2025. It goes without saying that the publicity calls it “black metal” and “cinematic.”

Because everyone else is not proud of their releases: Chile-based ENCHIRIDION MORTIS AETERNAE (EMA) “proudly” announces the release of its “highly anticipated” (by whom? Everyone makes this claim) debut “album” (it’s not an album, it’s a demo), Liber Mortis, available starting August 21st 2025. It is a conceptual work delving into the history of the Egyptian Book Of The Dead. The band had previously announced this demo’s title as The Book Of The Dead. The group calls itself “extreme metal,” but has “synths” (like Duran Duran, Aqua, Beyonce, Alphaville and Taylor Swift).

Scotland’s Hordes X is back in September 2025. This year’s line-up includes TRIVAX, AS THE WORLD DIES, HAND OF KALLIACH, HAMMER, CERTAIN DEATH and THRASHIST REGIME.

Crawling Chaos Live III, in cooperation with Sixth Circle Fest, is taking place in Germany on 18.10.2025. TEUFELNACHT, VENDUL and NECROTIC WOODS will appear.

Kelowna, Canada-based thrash metal band TERRIFIER has signed with Listenable Records. The band is working on an album, which is expected in 2026.

Quebec City, Canada-based heavy and speed metal act ÜLTRA RAPTÖR will release an album, called Fossilized, through Fighter Records on October 7th 2025.

Germany-based heavy metal band TOMB OF GIANTS has issued a demo called Holding The Flame. The band has a video for the song The Flame.

Canada-based CRIMSON SHADOWS has a new album called Whispers Of War through Victor Records.

Britain-based heavy metal veterans SWEET SAVAGE have a new album, called Bang, through earMusic on September 12th, 2025.

Fantasy metal band DRAGONSCLAW has a lyric video for Don't Break The Silence Again, which is taken from the Moving Target full-length. It is available through High Roller Records on August 22nd, 2025.

Time To Kill Records has signed Italy-based SLYTHER, a band of teenagers it calls thrash metal, but is actually a crossover and heavy metal band. The band was founded in 2020 and played at Day 0 of Frantic Fest 2023. An album, called Chronicles Of Despair, is out in October of 2025.

A short while after splitting up, Scotland-based heavy metal act TANTRUM has reformed under the new monicker PYROCLAST and released a new self-titled single.

Florida, USA-based heavy metal veterans SIREN has lost bassist Gregg Culbertson to a heart attack. He was part of the band between 1985 and 1987 and again from 2018 to 2025. The band's earlier bassist Ed Hauser died earlier this year as well.

Spain-based heavy metal band REDSHARK is issuing a new album. It is called Sudden Impact.

VICIOUS RUMORS has been forced to postpone its previously announced tour of the USA to 2026 due to guitarist Geoff Thorpe's accident in Germany following the band's recent European tour. Geoff had fallen and broken his right shoulder.

Hard rock and heavy metal band FIRMAMENT has an album called For Centuries Alive through Dying Victims Productions in September 2025..

SAXON was forced to cancel several summer shows, like Wacken Open Air, Pol’And’ Rock and Summer Breeze, as vocalist Biff Byford suffers from health issues and needed an emergency procedure. The band plans to return to the stages in late August.

Progressive metal band ASTRAL EXPERIENCE will release a self-titled EP through Art Gates Records on October 3rd 2025.

Ukraine-based progressive metal band KORYPHEUS forthcoming record Gilgamesh is out through M-Theory Audio in September.

Germany-based TERRA ATLANTICA, which signed a multi-album deal with Scarlet Records earlier this summer, will release an album called Oceans in late September.

SONATA ARCTICA and POWERGLOVE are conducting a short tour of Canada and the USA in September and October of 2025.

Hard and heavy band XATHRA has joined the Art Gates' roster.

North Carolina, USA-based stoner band COSMIC REAPER has an album called Bleed The Wicked, Drown The Damned through Heavy Psych Sounds on 26.09.2025.

UK-based doom metal band WARNING has signed with Relapse Records. The quartet will begin recording a first new album in 20 years later this year. WARNING will appear at Damnation Festival in November where it will debut new material alongside playing the entire Watching From A Distance album.

Doom metal band EPITAPH (Italy) has picked Chilean man Felipe Plaza Kutzbach (PROCESSION, DESTRÖYER 666, SCALD, etc.) as its newest vocalist.

NYC, USA-based heavy and doom trio CHAKA has uploaded a song called It’s Not Human, which is taken from an upcoming debut full-length demo called Amplifying The Past. The group is founding singer and bassist Mark Sokoll, of bands like DARKSIDE NYC and TERMINAL CONFUSION, longtime friends Mike C. (ex-WHITE TRASH) on drums and Frank P. (LOST CAUSE) on guitar. The band collaborates remotely with Ireland-based guitarist Ty Canon, a childhood friend.

STONE NOMADS has signed a deal with Ripple Music. There will be a new full-length later this year.

THE OBSESSED has replaced departing drummer Brian Costantino with Bob Pantella of MONSTER MAGNET.

To commemorate its 25 years of existence, doom metal band PANTHEÏST will release a 16-track compilation called 25 Years Of Pantheïsm through Ardua Music.

WRATHCHILD AMERICA will reissue its two albums, Climbin' The Walls (1989) and 3-D (1991), as a two-disc set. It will be released by Dissonance Productions on October 24th, 2025.

Iran-based progressive solo act SABKE MORDE has a demo called Sangvareh, which means 'fossil' in Persian, on July 14th, 2025.

Canada-based hard rock and heavy metal act STARLIGHT RITUAL has signed a new deal with High Roller Records. An album called Rogue Angels is due this autumn.

Ukraine-based doom metal band STONED JESUS has announced Songs To Sun as the first chapter in a trilogy, which will be followed by Songs To Moon (2026) and Songs To Earth (2027). The present album will be released through Season Of Mist in September.

Here is a "cinematic" album. The cadre of international musicians that is based in Germany, GODS OF TOMORROW, has released its self-titled debut album through WormHoleDeath. It is described as "A melodic odyssey with a Latin American soul." The group was founded by Greek brothers Konstantinos Markou and Thomy Gunn (both guitarists). VICTORY had an album called Gods Of Tomorrow.

Hard rock band SOUL SELLER's 2010 debut album, Back To Life is available digitally through Art Of Melody Music/ Burning Minds Music Group. A special edition features four bonus tracks. The three original bonus tracks from the Japanese edition and an exclusive and previously unreleased version of Keep On Moving performed by the band’s original frontman, Michael Carrata, are included.

Keyboard damaged band SILENT ANGEL, which is based in Malaysia, has recruited drummer Albar Omar (DAYLIGHT DESCENDS). Pae Sembah Bumi is out.

Italy-based white metal "Christian Catholic metal veterans" METATRONE has a single called Facsimile. It is taken from the band's upcoming studio album, which is set for release in 2026. The band has a keyboardist, which makes sense given how the church also has an organ or keyboard.

Argentina-based FEANOR has signed with No Remorse Records and will release a record called Hellhammer. Metal fans should approach the band with trepidation as it has a violinist.

Singer MAKI OYAMA (FATE GEAR and ALDIOUS) will release her third solo album I AM on 10.08.2025. Solo artist and ex-NEMOPHILA guitarist Saki is a guest on the record.

Singer John Bush has several shows playing ANTHRAX songs from his time with the band. Bush will perform songs spanning all four albums he recorded with the band, Sound Of White Noise, Stomp 442, Volume 8: The Threat Is Real and We've Come For You All, in the USA this December. Joining Bush on stage will be his CATEGORY 7 band-mates Phil Demmel (guitar), Mike Orlando (guitar) and Jason Bittner (drums), along with his longtime ARMORED SAINT band-mate Joey Vera on bass. CATEGORY 7 bassist Jack Gibson has a scheduling conflict. CATEGORY 7 will open each show.

A new project is a self-cover version and cover version act called LORDS OF NWOBHM. The members are singer Carl Sentance (PERSIAN RISK), guitarist Tino Troy (PRAYING MANTIS) and Cliff Evans (TANK), bassist John Gallagher (RAVEN) and drummer Karl Wilcox (DIAMOND HEAD). The band is already booked to play in Tokyo, Japan in January 2026.

Early TANK guitarist Peter Brabbs died on July 5th at the age of 68.

Drummer Matt Moulis of THE HIDDEN HAND and UNMOTHERED died on June 30th, 2025. He was 44.

Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, which was less than three weeks after Ozzy Osbourne and BLACK SABBATH's final concert. He was 76. The Thames Valley air ambulance crew had landed in a field close to Ozzy's property at around 10:30 AM on Tuesday July 22nd. Paramedics worked for two hours to save the 76-year-old to no avail.

CEMETERY - THOUGHTS ON LIFE... AND DEATH
Like this or not, these guys are incredibly proficient at their instruments, songwriting and arrangements.
For some odd reason, it had gotten into my head that Cemetery is a solo act and everything is being performed by one musician. Listen after listen had me thinking that the act is a solo one despite - and this is the strangest part - the complex and multi-layered music. Odd. Setting that misconception aside, Cemetery's Thoughts On Life... And Death is something of a unique concept. It navigates a range of complex stylistic maneuvers and tempos. It begins very much an extreme metal release with growls. It then proceeds to throw several rock riffs in disguise at the listener. There are more ambient moments a la pop music, some jazz on Truth A, classical on Thoughts On Death and even a synthesiser interlude. None of it is overwhelming; in fact, much of it is quite subtle. So subtle, that it could be missed and no one will accuse these tracks of not being extreme metal, but those deviations do exist. While many bands labeled 'symphonic metal' are simply wimpy, poseur, and synthesizer-laden, this band and this release are truly, authentically symphonic metal. Consequently, it has its turn at techno-metal with multiple layers and complicated arrangements, some Death-like music and even syncopated chords.
The opening segment is incredible. The inventive riffs, the pumping bass and the evil vocals are one thing, the octopusine drumming is another. Among The Dead is progressive rock riding an atomic bomb hurtling down towards its intended destination. The Death-ish Grief, Anger And Despair and its follow-up Physical Fear even insert a stutter effect for a pulsating moment or two. The latter allows the bass to shine and has a drummer lobbing artillery at the listener. This song has an instrumental section that is easily reminiscent of vintage Rush. Then hear Lock The Doors To Your Mind, which before the rock music guitar solo and leisurely bass, goes for the jugular with all the speed and zeal of a rapid-fire lightning storm striking again and again. This would take your life and be the end, which is why it is a good time to mention that the release is a concept that is "a 50-minute concept album about the rise of a totalitarian regime and the downfall of the individual." This band and this release are anything but lazy or conventional. Just the doubled, tripled or quadrupled channels and the crackling symphony on Believe are proof enough. - Ali "The Metallian"

WODOS - Same
Wodos is a young thrashcore band out of Canada that prompts me to ask one question. "Is this really from 2025 or actually from 1985?" The band reports having formed in 2024 so the demo could not be from 1985, but we all wonder.
The three songs are comparable to very early and primitive Sadus, DRI and Sacrilege BC vibe-wise, but frankly don't get your hopes up. Authenticity, a vintage sound and not going commercial are good things, but Wodos (monicker inspired by Sodom) is barely any good and hardly interesting. Not something anyone could recommend. The live-in-rehearsal recording is raw as heck, but hardly anything new or capable. Sure, the singer barks, and is the best of the bunch, as if he is without a care in the world and is angry that his girlfriend walked off with a symphonic keyboard player dude, but the rest of it is crude. Even the pumping bassist can't add flavour to this. The drummer especially is monotonous and adds nothing to the tracks. Improve or die, boys. LUCERNE HAMMER - DEMO
One can only hope this crashes just beneath Musk's hair implants and explodes - flash poll: which implants are uglier, the Don's or Felon's? - for impact in the right vicinity can be deadly.
Lucerne Hammer's foray into hellish underground cacophony uses the "Eat the rich, fuck the bastards, death to fascists" slogan, which, well-intentioned as it may be, is a little vexing. For one, Look at Drumpf, the sieg-heiling moron, or any of their wealthy swampy fat cats. No doctor recommends that much saturated fat. As for 'fucking the bastards,' well, make sure you have protection. Stormy VD must be nasty. Death and dying to fascists is something we can wholeheartedly support though. Helping these morons meet their makers should revive the planet. The said makers didn't stick around after knocking up the moms at the trailer park (or did they? No one can tell who belongs to whom in right-wing circles) so this is their chance.
